I tend to think it is easier to take away some of the juice of the 3 point attack than the inside game given the handcheck limitation. I'll note that Boston, Cleveland and Orlando, San Antonio are top 5 at minimizing inside makes. The Lakers are 6th highest. San Antonio and Boston are also top 5 at minimizing 3 pt makes. The Lakers are nearby at 7th lowest. Boston and San Antonio have both high FG% zones covered the best. But then the FT is the third high efficiency zone. Remind me please, what is the r for opponent free throw rate? Only the Cavs are above average at fouls given in this group.

I'm surprised by teh POSITIVE correlations...for example, the better a team is defensively, the HIGHER conversion rate it gives at the rim or beyond the arc? That seems weird to me. But there it is...allow 60ish % at the rim FG, and produce a higher effiency #. I would have expected a negative correlation...

NachoEater- Remember, defensive efficiency is like a golf score: the lower, the better. If a team keeps their opponent At Rim field goal percentage down, teams will score fewer points and thus, a lower defensive efficiency.

I found this pretty interesting. I mean you would think that other teams would not attempt this many shots at the rime over the Lakers, though IMO it's not all that surprising that they defend it well, because of there length inside.
