Good article. Will be watching how things develop.

Too early to say if / how McGrady fits beyond this season. I've never really thought they had a chance at LeBron. Sergio runs the break and then if that doesn't lead to a shot, then McGrady runs things (or a lot of it)? Do they want to play one pace- fast- or go with this dual mode or have 2 different units or eventually feature McGrady in the 4th quarter? Will be interesting to see what they try and what happens.

I'm curious to know why you don't think the Knicks have a shot at Lebron. I think it's his most likely destination other than the Cavs now that they have cap space and a capable, player-friendly coach. In my opinion, Lebron could flourish under D'Antoni's system and likely end up with a scary Oscar Robertson-esque average line. Of course, I'm from Brooklyn...

I think Lebron wants to be loved too much to bail on Cleveland for New York: abandoning his hometown team, a team in a shaky market, and with one whose management and ownership have gone above and beyond to build around him would really knock him down a rung in the eyes of many in this country (namely not those living in the NYC metro area). I agree it's his most likely destination other than the Cavs, as I don't see him going to LA to play in Bryant's shadow, to Chicago to walk in MJ's footsteps, or to Miami to join Wade's team. I just think the Cavs would have to completely collapse in the playoffs for him to do it. I could be wrong, though.

The Cavs situation is pretty darn good. Hard for me to see how NY equals or tops it- on the court. LeBron knows the importance of defense and D'Antoni doesn't have a good track record on that. Walsh is likely only there a few years and wasn't good in trying to rebuild or help rebuild the recent Pacers. Moreover Gallinari and Chandler are both SFs. Maybe they get 2 stars but it will be hard to get stars and enough around them to be a conference finalist or better. I don't see James being patient and giving them a few years to put it together. But that is just my quick impression from afar.

James could re-sign for say 2-3 years and then do whatever. That's probably what I'd do. I don't think fans would be as upset if he left after that.

Start the LBJ era of the Lakers in 2013 or 2014? Who knows.

To get James to NY right away I'd think they'd absolutely have to get Bosh and then probably play James a lot at PF and play fast.
